Pinging .edu baclinks in profiles?

Hi,

im just wondering. If I create say a link on my profile page on a .edu forum should I ping it? Like on a forum it's on my profile page and has a tab that says "website url." So I just put a link to the website im trying to rank in Google.

Im just wondering though should I just put the link in my profile and leave it alone or should I ping it at pingomatic.com

I know .edu backlinks are powerful but how many .edu backlinks should I get a day with a site thats only say 4 days old? I want to really rank my site for it's keyword as it's not that competetive. Thanks

    YES! Ping everything. Articles, Profiles, Pages you've commented on..ping it all. This will make sure you're links are getting found and counted.

    so anything I do I should ping it? Even ezinearticle submissions? Also guys how many .edu backlinks are too many for a brand new site per day? My site is not even indexed yet...which is surprising because ive submitted it at quite a few social bookmarketing sites and article directories.

      Ezinearticles don't need to get pinged, because google crawls their site A LOT. And your articles get indexed very rapidly, usually within an hour or two.

      In terms of getting profile links indexed, and high authority .edu backlinks, always go above and beyond. Meaning don't just STOP with submitting the link, create additional backlinks to that backlink and also bookmark it as well. Profile links require a lot more nudging to get indexed in the search engines, so don't let your effort go unwasted by just forgetting about them.

    Can anyone say on good authority if links under javascript? tabs, like some forum software uses will be seen be search spiders?
