Hey Guys,

After browsing through the link forum here, I found a guy selling a site wide link on a PR4 site in my niche, after a quick check, it's obvious that the PR is faked.

I won't out him here but, I PM'd the admin, no response. I then left a message on his thread that the PR was faked, and the message was deleted?

What is the proper procedure for something like this?

Exactly, if you check the PR- how is it fake?

It's not that difficult to fake.

Do an info:domain.com search on google and check if the same page comes up as you entered to verify PR.

exactly, this is how i know it is fake. There are ways to fake page rank guys, you should do some research and make sure you're not buying links on fake PR sites.

My question is how is this guy deleting my responses to his thread and who should I inform on the warriorforum about it? I'm sure that they don't condone this sort of thing?

Many times when people offer backlinks on sites with very solid Page Rank, the Home Page will be ranked high. But the subpages have very low page rankings.

This is actually very common for websites. What you can do to protect yourself is to insure that your link is actually going on a page that has the page rank you are looking for and not just a page on the same site.

You did a good job of checking yourself.

Always make sure you do the necessary background work.

Maybe I am a little naive, but what exactly is the benefit of a fake PR?

I'm still a new guy in the SEO department (what do I know?), but it doesn't seem like PR is really as important as other metrics, and I haven't ever focused on that when getting page 1 or 2 placement. What is the benefit of it?

Either way, lying is lying. I hope this person is properly confronted within the forum.

The proper procedure is to keep your mouth shut, and pretend you didin't see nuthing.
