Sending backlinks to a parked domain before it is hosted?

Hello All,

I just purchased a new domain but will not be able to afford to host it for about two weeks, at which point I'll sign up with Host Gator and migrate all of my sites over from GoDaddy.

My question is, is it in any way beneficial or in any way detrimental to start submitting articles and building backlinks to a site that is currently parked with GoDaddy?

Once the site is up, will it benefit from the backlinks that were built before the site was up?

I ask because I am excited about my new site and can't wait to get to work on it, and would rather start building backlinks now instead of sitting on my hands about it until I can get the site hosted.

Thanks for reading.

I have heard of people doing this... I never have done it but I would imagine it could be beneficial!

    Hey Nameless,

Thanks for the reply. I can't think of any reason why it could be harmful either.

I guess what I really want to know is how Google, Yahoo, and Bing treat parked sites with backlinks being built and pointed at them.

I need to know if Google, Yahoo, or Bing will penalize the site either before it is up or after it is up, because I don't know if building backlinks to a parked domain looks 'Black Hat' in their eyes.

Do they even recognize backlinks if they're pointing to a parked site? And if not, once the site is hosted and up and running, will it appear to them that this brand new site all of a sudden has tons of backlinks pointing at it?

    Thanks again.

I don't think you are going to have a problem. Maybe you won't get it ranked before actually putting a real site up, but it will just help the process. As far as profile links and blog comments go, just don't ping them, let it go naturally. If you're building links manually you have nothing to worry about. Even if you are buying back links chances are you have nothing to worry about!

    Hey thanks again Nameless,

Yeah I currently build ALL of my backlinks manually, so I'm going to get started.
