If a .edu or .gov has page rank 0 is it still worth it??

.edu and .gov links aren't magical, but any link from an authority site is good to have, provided the site/page hasn't been spammed to death and had it's outgoing links devalued.

I agree, .gov/.edu are not at all magical. Links from higher PR sites are more consistent. But both have the same effect if a lot of links are coming out of one page. The juice is divided among all of those links.

Ya a PR 0 .edu or .gov link is worth..
it counts and provides good link juice!!

I read somewhere that a PR 0 .edu site provides more juice than some PR 4 profile link..

So You should go for them!

  • A PR 0 edu and gov link worth good.
But not because it is .gov or edu , a pr 0 .com backlink also worth same as pr 0 .edu & gov.

It might have a PR0, but it's has with authority, that's better than no page rank

Can you specify? Are they dofollow links? if so, depending on the domain, you can get quality reference from it as it can gain respect for your link being on it.

They obviously have some sort of increased rankings built into the Google algorithm because of the fact that they are typically trustworthy and not heavily monetized.

You'd think it wouldn't be that hard to do a comparison test - try one site with regular PR0 backlinks, and another similar one with .edu/.gov... although keeping all things equal (competition & such) might be the trickiest part...

I agree, authority is not 100% in PR but in relevancy and other factors, I think a PR0 .EDY or .GOV is still a pretty good link.

EDU and GOV links are great. However any backlink (especially with PR) is really good to have. I also suggest having a mix of both DOfollow and NOfollow, because it looks more natural to G.

Like others have said, .edu and .gov links aren't magic, but they do (IMO) provide a slight boost over standard links.
