Submit Sitemap to Google Webmaster - Yes or No

If the new site is already indexed,

is there anything to gain or loose by either submitting or not submitting the sitemap to webmaster?

    First of all, you must check to be sure all the pages of the website are indexed.

    Secondly, it is always advisable to still submit the sitemap even if all pages are currently indexed as the content in the sitemap is revolving and some pages later on may not be indexed and you will see it via no. of pages indexed out of the entire pages in the sitemap on webmaster tools.

    Also, as it is revolving, it will continuously aid Google to enhance crawl access to your website. Hence, it is not a once for all use thing but rather required for use by Google continuously.

    Google webmaster tool is awesome, i have just fixed duplicated my html duplication because of notification in my account, imagine, if i did not submit my site there, i would not know about these issues.

    This is more indicated when you site is new, and you want it indexed fast in google. But i don't see any problem if you do a sitemap if your site has been already indexed in google. I think there are positive aspects: You can see the keyword you rank well, how many views and how many click you have on that keyword, how many links...

    I have never submitted a sitemap to Google webmaster tools for any of my sites. It isn't required at all although it's a 'service' many people selling SEO services will try sell you using scare tactics.

      In summary,

      there may be some gain in submiting sitemap

      but no one can see any reason not to apart from possibly the time taken to do so.

    According to me sitemaps are a way to tell Google about pages on your site.Creating and submitting a Sitemap helps make sure that Google knows about all the pages on your site, including URLs that may not be discoverable by Google's normal crawling process.

    i would suggest you to still submit it to google webmaster and other various place to gain backlinks and more expose to google. You will have to do it cuz it has lots of more benefit even in PR juice and new page will need to index again
