First facebook ad not going so well

Created my first facebook ad and well like the title says not doing well. Went for CPM of about 0.56 ended up getting charged 0.34. Almost got 9,500 views with 0 response. No clicks what so ever.

The targeting on facebook is like nothing I've ever seen. Can't find where to put keywords so I went with age targeting but with out the keywords working along with the age requirements this ad isn't going to work. I don't know how to edit this to improve.

Any advise?

List of stuff to try.

-Change photo of ad
-Different description
-Find out how to add keywords

Edit:
Must have been tired last night creating this ad. Is the interest area how we keyword the ads? By the different pages/groups?

Everything I've read says you need to start with CPC before you think about doing CPM. It makes sense. Just do a quick search here on WF.

There is no way to target by keywords on Facebook. Those words you usually target come from users entering search queries into search engines. With Facebook you have to get creative and determine your demographic based on age, gender, location, interests, etc... These people are not actively looking to buy anything, but are more likely just trying to have some kickback time.

Don't get discouraged, very few people strike goal their first swing of the pickax.

First off, not every niche is suited for Facebook traffic, so keep that in mind before spending all your money.

I would start with your image first as this will easily have the greatest impact on your CTR.

I'd then segment your demographic into a handful campaigns, first by age, then sex, then keywords, etc. Create unique ads for each campaign to better cater to these groups. The point of this will be to narrow your audience down to the highest converting visitor profile.

Through this process, you'll begin to get a better understanding of your key demographic, and what makes them tick. Or in this case, 'click'.

I've tried FB ads before. Yes, they are cheap, but not effective in my own experience. Adwords is a lot bettter obviously, more expensive, but it works.

People don't go to FB to search for products or anything for that matter - but to upload pictures of family vacations or of their kids. They socialize there - not search for things.

    Hey there!

I've actually written a lot of posts here on WF about the problems you have, so in order to not repeat myself here, I'll just give you the links to them:

The most important thing to learn about Facebook is that people aren't in the buying mode. But that doesn't mean they aren't interested in your product!

So the key is to first get them on a list, warm them up and then pre-sell your product.

    Hope this helped, take care!

      Thanks for the advise everyone!

I should have wrote the first post better wasn't selling anything it was a lead cpa offer. So far the conclusion is targeting old people on facebook might not be productive.

Honestly how many 50+ people do you know on facebook. ahha If you know the network I work with you'd know the offer for sure.

This is just a test the tides kind of thing anyways. I had a few extra dollars and decided to open a facebook ad on the fly.

Anyways fixed the volume (using interest) of the ad to the point it hasn't been viewed all day.Supposed to be 3500 estimated views. Surly wont be giving up just learning. Everything in life is a learning experiment. So keep experimenting! The photo does seem to be right on with the subject though. No views so no chance of conversion. Will let it go for another day or so, read more about facebook and offers that work with facebook, then start a new campaign if this one hasn't started to work.

Davor - Thanks for the gold nuggets man vary appreciated!
