    Here's for your perspective:

1.Exact match means the query words are present in the same order in the search term.

    Mouse Tail

    White Mouse Tail

    Mouse Tail Ribbon

In these "Mouse Tail" has 3 exact matches, and they are exact match queries for "Mouse Tail".

    Now,

    Buy Computer Mouse

    Sell Mouse Trap

    Repair Mouse Wheel

These are 3 broad match queries for "Mouse".

More experienced warriors please validate it or reject my explanation.

I think this covers it pretty well. I usually look for exact words when doing keyword research. It gives you a more realistic idea of what you can expect.

As an aside here for finding results.

When you search for a term you should always do this.

After getting the results and it says that there are 504,000 results, go down the bottom and click on Page 10, or the number 10, in the results.

Now go down and click on the last number again, usually 19.

More often than not you will find the results gets cut by thousands because initially google counts the pages from 1 website that has the term. For example, cure for severe acne could be on the sidebar of a blog that has 100 pages and google counts that.

I just ran "cure for severe acne" and it showed 13,200 results. Doing what I have written above, it came down to 194. That means only 194 websites mention the term and 13,200 pages mention it.

Try it. I have done this since day dot to find my true competition.

Are you talking about this on the last page of results:?

In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 200 already displayed.

Another warrior asked me to include this number in my All In Scraper program that I have just developed and is going to be released soon. I labeled it RC for "Real Competition". I gave him a review copy yesterday and he is thrilled. He got that number on for 100 keywords in just under 3 minutes. He said that my software saved him hours of work.

I never knew about that number until he shared it with me. He told me under 300 is pretty easy to rank for. What is your take on the desired number?
