I have a small company but I'm new to SEO and marketing in the internet. I heard that it can be usefull to have profile at Google Places. Is that right? And how can I optimize it to be found on top for my search query and city at Google Places?

    Google suggests that you fill out everything in your profile. Right now - mine is 81% filled up - not good enough. You need to put something in every field of Google Places.

      I have also heard that getting links from local sites. So if you can find sites that are about your city and then post links there. There are a lot of city forum sites that can be used to get links from. Make sure to put the anchor text in the link that you want to rank for.

      Does anyone have any other tips?
