Hi, I'm confused to optimize a page for a more specific keyword

or

the whole blog for more broad keyword?

THe competition of course for the single page will be less than the broad keyword.
But if we optimize a page, it means we have to optimize some pages like 5-8 pages for highly targeted keyword (do you think we need to do the SEO work for those pages?).

I LEARNED MY LESSON. Hope this helps.

Optimize your entire site. Algorithms change all the time. If you just focus on a single page, it might hit number one for months, even years. One tweak from big G and you end up a couple of pages back. All your hard work is gone. This happened to me a few years back. I have come learned my lesson. I ate like a King for years a tweak came about and I lost my 2 number 1 spots and dropped back a page. I couldn't even afford my hosting then.

It is better to have 400 pages listed in the top 20 results than owning number 1 for a single term in the long haul. Once you have a lot of decent rankings then you can go back and work on the rank for those pages.

This strategy has worked well for me on all my sites.
