because all of this information is readily available online, and not solely due to the warrior report i bought some time ago, i will give you how i ranked this site. also because of the sheer volume of pms i was getting, please understand this is a formula that does indeed work for me. i 'm only trying to help people out with this info, i'm not currently selling site design, but i will offer seo services in the future. i have found the following key elements vital to acheiving good ranks despite the competition. sometimes i get ranks in months, sometimes in days.

the key to me going after a keyword is using software to determine it's competition. obviously the lower the competition and a highly searched keyword, the more success you will have following this formula.

i am working all day today but will try and respond to posts or pms later tonight or tomorrow.

you will find this exact same information online if you do some digging. following this strategy i know when i go after a keyword, it's just a matter of time before it ranks. plain and simple. the last two months it has not let me down yet.

the example i gave is an affilaite site i have. built with four pages. one blog post of 1200 words. on a nice amount of monthly searches. this particular example the software told me would be easy to rank for. and it's right. it's allready making affiliate sales ranked 16 out of over 200 million.

domain
try to pick an exact match domain. if it's not available, i use more words at the end of the domain. some people would argue with this but it works for me just fine.

on page
keyword in the title and description twice. at least once. keyword in h1 h2 and h3 tags. around 3% keyword density in content. i've found the longer the posts are the easier they rank. i make mine around 1200 words and provide alot of information. keywords bold and italicized at least one time. keyword in the first paragraph at the beggining and end, keyword in the last paragraph. one anchor text backlink at the end of the post linking to an authroity site. one anchor text backlink at least linking to an inner page.

off page
i build backlinks with a few main points in mind. there are countless warriors you can hire to do this.
first i get the site indexed using this url:
http://profitinstruments.com/quickindex/index.php
then i bookmark the site around 50 bookmarks.
then i build some edu links
make some blog posts
create some articles
get some good profile links with good home page PR
maybe put out a few press releases

the important thing is, i don't use any indexing tool or ping my backlinks EVER. this way google finds them over time. i usually do a campaign then sit back and watch to see what happens a few weeks, then decide how to move forward.

again i currently don't even sell seo services anymore, so i'm really just trying to consolidate what i've learned from wsos and my own seo research here. following these prinicples will help you rank sites. software like MS or niche finder or traffic travis will help you determine what keywords to go after that have a good likely hood of ranking fast.

hope this info does help someone out. following this basic plan should help you rank the sites easier. sometimes it takes months like i said, but sometimes it takes days.

Wow! This is pretty impressive Matt. Well done! I'm always interested to learn how others get sites to rank by using different varieties of SEO and content. Have you thought about making this info into a WSO? Lots of people would gladly pay money for the method you show us here.

I personally learned most of this from one warrrs cheap wso and expanded on it a bit. I will be offering seo services in a bit again based on this exact model. Stay tuned!!

Thanks man! Its really a piece of cake following this formula. Once you get top ranks and have good content, the money starts rolling in its just a numbers game at that point.

Take action and you'll see results. I'm thinking about offering affiliate site creation services following this exact formula since it does get results.

Contrary to what most people seem to think, that little number at the top of Google does not tell you your competition. That is simply the number of other pages on Google that have that same keyword mentioned at least once on their page.

The truth is, a keyword that shows 267 million other results can be just as easy, if not easier, to rank for than a keyword with only 4 million other results. The major factor is what SEO optimization, if any, do all these other pages have. You will find the large majority of pages simply have that word mentioned once within content on the page. This is hardly competition.

The real way to find your competition is to look at the top 10-20 results for a keyword. Look at their Google page rank, the number of incoming links, whether or not they have the keyword in their title tag, and whether or not they have the keyword in the domain. Once you look for those things you will see more clearly what you are up against.

Best comment posted on this thread by far... So far...!

@Mattjay - Congrats on your breaking the top 20... Next step break on to page one. Keep building backlinks using the proper anchor text. If need be, maybe tweak the On-Site SEO a little bit if you're lacking in areas (meta tags, titles, <h1><h2><h3>, bold words, inner linking, etc..)

Next time you're doing your keyword/competition research, listen to what WillR said... That is how you will find out who your TRUE competition is.

      CHEERS!

Most of you probably know already, but in case you don't Traffic travis is the best free tool available for this. Just enter the keyword phrase and it gives you the top 20 sites with all there backlink and PR info. It even rates how easy or hard the phrase is to rank for.

    @mattjay

you sound so much like an SEO newbie, so i'll be gentle - there is no formula. you can take two identical sites with identical content and perform the exact same SEO on each over the same period of time, and not get the same results.

there has been a couple of times in the past where i thought i'd hit upon something "bullet proof", but it just doesnt work like that. the strategy varies from site to site - hell - from page to page! there is no mould you can apply to client sites i'm afraid, so i would avoid selling this as a service until you experiment a little more on your own sites.

Hmmm how to respond. Well, I have multiple affiliate sites ranked first page using the system. I've studied seo for over two years and apply solid well known strategies to rank them. When I build a site it is a matter of time before my sites rank. I will refrain from talking down to you as you did me, but will ask you to refrain from insulting others who know how to get results. Of course there are. Most of them don't (and sometimes can't) account for every variable, but that doesn't make them less valid as systems. It does, however, make them less useful as predictors.

Then there's the matter of raw materials. You can have a reproducible system for turning plant fibers into cloth, and it will produce different results if you feed it wool or flax than if you feed it silk.

What is a system though? The dictionary says:
"a procedure or process for obtaining an objective".

It is basically a set of steps or processes you follow each time you wish to reach the same outcome. I don't know about you but I sure have a set of steps I go through whenever I am doing keyword research. If you don't then what are you doing - going at it blind?

Sure, the results are not always going to be the same. But a system is not a system because it always produces the same results. The system is the steps you use to try and achieve that same result.

Why oh why am I rambling?!

Ok. Monthly searches over 8k global. I love how people hate when you try to help. But then again I'm no matt cutts lol. Oh well. I'm working today but in time I will respond to every pm of anyone that wants advice. My goal here is to help people perhaps get the same results every month. Maybe if I made a wso selling this plan, all of which is info available online, for 50 bucks, then there would be less haters.

Yes I slightly changed the content but everything important is the same. I truly hope this helps someone and I highly reccomend market samarui, brad callens niche finder or other free or paid tool to help gauge competition. But what I've shared is the basic groundwork for how I rank sites and it works like clockwork. Not only for easy to rank terms but also the more competitive ones; it just takes longer.
I truly hope someone can use these basic guidelines to rank their money site and make some cash. It was my only reason for posting this info.
