TrafficTravis Question

Hey all,
Just a quick question about TrafficTravis. On the SEO Analysis page for the program, there is something called the "Difficulty Rating." I've been researching a couple of new niches in the past few days and put the keyword into the SEO Analysis but found that the ones I thought were easy they put as difficult, and the ones I thought were difficult, they put easy.

Maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about, but that's why I'm asking you.

Thanks!

Well... it's telling you it's difficult because it seeing high PR, high DOMAIN AGE, high backlinks, H1 and Title Tags, and on and on....so it actually would be difficult to rank for that keyword.

On what basis are you determining how hard or easy it's going to be for you to rank that term for?

Yeah. Thats the thing. The keyword I'm looking at has 9/10 websites as a PR 0,1,or 2 with only one 3. The backlinks are all under 100 and the domains are relatively young.

On the other hand, another keyword I'm looking at has mostly 3,4, and 5 PR's and some pages with over a hundred backlinks but it still says its easy. I don't know..

I've also wondered the same thing as the OP. TrafficTravis is not always 100% correct, but it's usually a pretty good rule of thumb to follow.

How are the sites tags? Meta Descriptions - Page Titles - DMOZ listing - Yahoo! Directory listing - CEXT (number of baclinks to the TLD from the same country the search originated from) - PR - Age - Keyword Density - <h1><h2<h3> tags - Content - Google's Cache.

I see sites with 50-100 backlinks outrank sites with 5k backlinks ALL THE TIME! Quantitiy is NOT everything that is for sure!

Like I said, TrafficTravis gives you a good idea, but it's up to you to dig deeper.

      CHEERS!

The problem with these softwares is that they don't (and can't, I think) show you the anchor text of the links pointing to the sites being analyzed.

I have seen reports shown as "difficult" to rank because the site son forst page have highj page rank and that is not accurate. A pr 0 site can outrank a pr 9 site if it is better optimized for the specific keyword so if you can get more quality backlinks, with proper anchor texts, you could outrank them

This is a good point. But I've seen several TrafficTravis SEO Analysis reports for 10 results showing almost every single result as a PR3+ and report back "Relatively Easy."

I believe the tool does dig a little big deeper, especially if it's listing out .edu/.gov backlinks and country backlink locations.

    Thanks for all the responses!

I think I'll just use TrafficTravis reports info because that seems pretty credible, but I won't look at the difficulty ranking.

By looking at all the other data of the listings in the top 10 you can determine how difficult/easy ranking for that keyword term is likely to be. TT gives you enough data to make that decision for yourself
