How Long Does it Take For Your Site to Appear on Google?

i have been working on a blog for about a little over a month now. i have been adding new 500 word SEO optimized postings every week or so, social bookmarking them, social book marked the site, submitted the sitemap, been writing 500 words seo optimized artilces and submitting them to the various article directories and social bookmarking them as well. also been posting on .edu and .gov relevant blogs. submitted RSS feeds. my site was 1st indexed by google a month ago.

today i was told in order to check to see where my site ranked on google i did a search on Rank Checker SEO Centro and it said my site hasn't been placed yet and the rank was N/A.

should i be concerned that it hasn't even been ranked or placed in google SERPs yet? how long does it normally take for your site to start ranking?

i'm genuinely concerned. i believe my site is really coming together incredibly well and it is constantly being updated but i'm wondering why it isn't being ranked at all yet

Google is a tough nut. Sometimes if you build up a site too quickly, Google will penalize you - especially if there are suddenly a massive amount of backlinks to a new site. Google will recognize that you are artificially trying to raise your PR and move up in the SERPS.

Google tends to favor sites that look like they are becoming successful naturally and gain backlinks over time. Perhaps you added too many direct backlinks too fast.

    Just a thought.

I wouldn't delete any backlinks. Take Iam's advice and be patient. I didn't mean to scare you. I'm sure that you will be fine.

Chances are good that you just haven't reached the level of your competition. Have you scoped out the pages that are currently ranking high for your keywords? Take a look at them and I'm sure that you will see that they are tough to beat.

It can definitely take some time to get into the SERPs for certain keywords. Try a few longer kw with multiple words, or even whole phrase. Target a few of those since they're often easier to rank for. With the amount of backlinks that you are able to build, you should be able to get into the SERPs for those.

What keywords are you targeting? I have a feeling you are in a tough niche. I have a couple sites with high competition that aren't in the SERPs yet and it has been 3-4 months. The site in my sig isn't even there yet.

Just be patient and keep building!

this happens all the time. i once put two sites up with original content and one site started ranking after a few days and the other wasn't in the top 300 for a few weeks. This is despite my SEO being completely the same for both.

    Try this.
Go to Eastern University | College of Graduate and Professional Studies - Community Menu
and create yourself a free EDU blog and give yourself an incontent dofollow link.
Google's spiders regularly visit that site, so it may give you a little bit of a bump.

For a bigger bump, build up the PR of the EDU blog...and it will help your money site in turn.

    Hope that helps.

I assume your site is indexed? If you put in your website address in Google search it does return your website, the internal pages, some of your backlink sources, etc?

When you said "not ranked", do you mean not ranked on page 1, the first 100 listings, or the first 1,000,000 listings? It is rare for any "Rank Checking Tool" to look further out than the first 100, 500, or 1000 listings. Your site may be ranked, but not ranked where you want it.

Depending on the competitive nature of your keyword phrases this could be a long-term issue, or a short-term issue. If you are trying a highly competitive phrase you will need to overcome most of the factors the top 10 listings have going for them. This includes SEO optimized content, URL's, headline, titles, etc. It includes having more incoming links of equal or higher quality than theirs.

I have pages highlighting particular phrases in my blogs which cannot be found in the first 1,000 results either. It just means I either failed in my research, have not created enough backlinks, or am not as optimized as the competing pages, or more likely a combination of those factors. Those same blogs have pages on other phrases which are anywhere from the top 5 of Google to the top 30 on Google.

In these cases I focus on increasing my links to the phrases which are already ranking. It is easier to move those pages up a few notches than to take the phrase which is over a thousand away to the front page of Google.

In your case, I'd take a further look at your phrases and evaluate each one against the competition on the first page of Google. How many backlinks do they have? How well are their sites optimized? What is the diversity and quality of links to their site? Choose the phrases which can start generating some traffic, but appear to be the easiest to overcome the factors you find for the top 10 competing pages.

You sound like you are on the right basic track with your process, you just need to refine a little bit.

    Take care,

    Barry

My site is 2 months old now and I am ranked in their search engine but in most cases very far back with even remotely generic keywords.

To be honest, there is no definite time-scale we can predict for your web site to appear on Google.. But if you will create too many backlinks in a day or so, Google will identify that you are artificially trying to raise your Page Rank.. And It may create trouble for you.. Work ethically and create some genuine back links, article posting in high PR and Dofollow links may help in your case.. Al da Bst..

My site is usually indexed within 24 hours and ranking pretty decent after about a week. If its not where i want it to be, I do some basic SEO and Link building and get it there.

I think you in the same boat as I am right now. My main domain isn't ranking anywhere for the keywords I am targeting, but the inner pages are ranking for those keywords. But this is because the site is fairly new. All you can do is continue building links to your site and updating your content.

It can be difficult to do this when you are not seeing immediate results, but you will reap what you sow in the future. Just ensure you are sowing in fertile ground
