Does anyone have any evidence through testing whether, for on-site optimisation, using a wordpress blog, linking from within the text of a blog works any better than using a Related Posts plugin?

I'm looking for evidence rather than supposition

Have a great week

I wouldn't even know of a way to test that across sites, though I would imagine since contextual links are worth more, that contextual links would be better...

I believe as you do but can't think of a way of testing it, either, hence the question!

Thanks for taking the time to answer

You could do a small test where you have a contextual link with unique anchor text leading to a specific page and track this link that leads to say Page X. You can have a related posts link also on whichever site it may be that leads to Page X.

In Google Analytics, you can look up the visits to Page X and see how many users clicked on the contextual link to arrive on Page X and how many users clicked on the related posts on the other site that leads to Page X.

Since it is spread across two sites, Analytics must be installed on both. Hope this helps
