SB Site Strategy - Which One Do You Follow?

hey warriors,
so what's your SB strategy, when you're trying to promote articles you've placed in directories, or trying to promote your blogs/sites?
Are you trying to link to your article or blog, for ranking for serps results?
or
Are you instead trying to get direct visits to article directories and or to your blog/sites from links obtained from SB sites?
are you like me and wonder if you don't just need only one account on a facebook or twitter ?(instead of multiple FB accounts, or multiple twitter accounts, and the like with other SB sites)
Because I've heard that if Google sees your SB account all going to your own articles/blogs/sites, and everything is link connected(not really a true linkwheel, but they simply know what you're doing), or the blogs/sites you have are all on the same ip and all going to those links, google therefore won't give any ranking juice (I don't know if it's true knowing google it seems logical)
(if accurate) how does that affect your strategy?
Do you have one account for a give SB site?(I realize most have a variety of SB site accounts to different SB sites, but do you as well have multiple accounts to each one?)
