First page in Google, but nowhere for Bing/Yahoo

Hi there,

I've got my site up in the middle of the 1st page in Google for a relatively new KW. However, it's nowhere in sight on Bing or Yahoo. It's kind of puzzling. I started out in page 2 in Google and moved to middle of page 1 after about a month+ of consistent link building.

So, what's up with the Bing/Yahoo SERPS? What could I do to get my site noticed in these two other engines?

Thanks
#bing or yahoo #bing serps #google #google serps #page #yahoo serps

Quite often you'll get ranked in Google much faster that Bing and Yahoo, it just seems to take more time.

Best to keep building your site(s) and backlinks and your rankings should improve over a few weeks.

It mean if i have #1 at Google, will I number 1 after Yahoo and Bing update?

Also it seems like back links directly affect Bing and Yahoo more than Google. I thing that B/Y's algorithm is not as complicated and does not weight the quality of backlinks as sophisticated as G.

Yahoo and Bing rank websites on a different criteria to Google. Chances are you site is well optimized for Google but not for the others. Yahoo for example does not take into account nofollow unlike Google.

Yahh/bing use completely different algo's to google, quite often what you are doing to get ranked for google doesn't work for Y/B

Additionally they can be much slower to rank your site

Sometimes the opposite happens. On one of my sites, the Bing/Yahoo searches came really fast and first. It was for a relatively new keyword. I get much more traffic from Google than Yahoo or Bing.

A website dedicated to Yahoo/Bing SEO might be a good idea. It might be a smart strategy to optimize for the lesser used engines. The competition for the keywords might be less.

  • I felt this things many times that If my keywords is ranking in first page in Google search then why not in Yahoo/Bing. I am trying to learn more about how to rank first page in Yahoo/Bing.

To be totally honest, even with similar ranking (though google is a bit higher, but not enough to make that drastic of a difference), I get TONS more traffic from google than I do yahoo or bing, so personally, I could care less.

Though, of course, this will vary with the specific niche and/or situation.

      Thanks for all the responses.

Re. optimizing for Y/Bing, what's different vs doing it for Google? On page optimization is the same right? does Y/B look at different items? And a link is a link is a link right? Or are these engines giving different weights to the type/source of the links?

I always run into the same thing. Not just my own site, but for web 2.0 sites like HubPages, Squidoo, etc. Just takes more time. I'm also in the boat that, yes, I optimize for Google, and no, I'm not too concerned how it affects Y/B.

Google likes quality of links, Y/B like amount of links, so if you want to rank in Y/B just build more links (scrapebox is good), but in this case you can lose in Google. And unlike G, Y/B don't mind to find a million links in one day.
