Lots of tool are built to gather keywords but I rarely see tools to gather negative keywords.
Negative keywords can be the key to winning/losing PPC campaign, saving money, and so on. Bottom line is negative keywords carry lots of weight in PPC.

And how do you guys get those negative keywords? I usually use my own head first but I always stuck after a handful of neg keywords. What do you guys use? or what methods you guys use to add more negative keywords?

Using your head is the best possible strategy. You are doing it right

If you are selling a product, the one word you want to avoid is free. Excessive use of negative keywords can also harm your PPC campaign as you may encounter results that you may not expect when setting up the campaign. It is good to tread cautiously.

Start off with one or two negative keywords (not account wide but rather on a campaign by campaign basis). Then increase its scope gradually but make sure to see your ads show up in the Ad Targeting tool.

Agree. Use your head and also thread carefully. Actually, the keyword tool can be good for negatives too. Just enter a generic term and many of the results will be negatives you should be using.

The other way is to look at the SQR (Search Query Report) of terms people used when clicking your ads. But if you build a proper keyword list in the first place, you should not need very many negatives.
