Does it really matter. I am researching the top 10 competition strength with Market Samurai. The amount of pages indexed does that really matter when determining my chances of ranking higher then they are?

So by building up the backlinks and getting the on page seo all in order I position myself to over take the listings. Thank you.

My plan is to write 1 good quality blog post daily. Then build 10 backlinks daily for the next 2 weeks. Then make 10 backlinks via forum posting and blog posts twice a week after that, with 3 quality posts a week.

      I hope that this helps.

In the short term, no. Size plays a super-minimal role at best, if any.

Keep in mind that because you will adding a lot of content over the long term, you have the opportunity to gain additional traffic from other keywords (whether you intentionally target them or not), whereas the websites with less pages have less of an opportunity to do this.

This makes SO much sense. Content additions will maximise the opportunities.

Yea ive always wondered this also. Its intimidating to see a top ten page for your keyword that has tons of pages indexed. I figure that it doesn't really matter much though. My thought process is if the actual page your competing with doesn't have a lot of backlinks or on site optimization then it could just be that there wasn't much competition for the keyword. So Google just gave a reliable and established site the rank because there wasn't really any good contenders. Like Youtube videos for example. I always see those in one of my niches. Theyre always ranked high with few backlinks and they're easy to kick out of the top ten in my experience. I could be wrong about all of this though.
