Ranking a Micro Niche Site for moderate competition Keywords

I am planning a few sites to be created around similar keywords but i am unsure whether to create one site (around 10 posts/keywords) for all my keywords or about 4 sites with 2 posts or so each. I have seen micro niche sites rank for several moderate competition keywords but I have also seen combined sites rank for several keywords equally as well. Just curious which is the best approach to this? Which would be more effective for SEO?

In my opinion, you answered your own question! They both are proven to do well... so just pick one! Or try both, see what works best for you. What works for me may or may not work for you and vica versa... Good luck!

Was hoping an experienced marketer had a split tested this and had a particular opinion with empirical results. I only say they they seem to do equally as well as a mere guess of ranking difficultly.

If you can get exact match domain names, it might be easier to rank the pages in question. Without EMD, and 1 site you may have to do more backlinking.

If you can't get an exact keyword match domain then I would prefer just using one site. The more sites you have, the more backlinks you have to build, the more time it takes.

Both strategies work and work well, it is really a matter of personal preference.

Keep in mind that if you want to try and focus on creating repeat visitors, like with a blog, then a single site would be easier to manage because you will need to regularly add content. If you have multiple sites, then you need to not only do more backlinking, but also create more unique content.
