Why not get more traffic

I have one site about ancient Egypt and it has been on the first result page for the keyword "ancient egyptians" in Google (in Google.com and worldwide) for a long time. This is quite popular keyword (1000000 searches per month?) but I get only 10 visits/day from whom that use that keyword. And my site is on the second page of Google for the keyword "ancient egypt" and get the same 10 visits/day.

I don't understand why I'm not getting more traffic for those quite popular keywords?

It could be to do with the site title and meta description. I mean, do the other listings on page 1 underneath or above you sound more appealing than yours?

If so that's perhaps one reason why people are clicking through to your site.

I could be totally wrong, though

Start tweaking your description and your title. You may find that it makes a big difference. Besides, it couldn't hurt to test. The info you gain can help you with other pages as well.

Not true, try using this tool instead. Take a look here Google

Hardly anybody searches for the term "ancient egyptians" alone and it sure isnt getting 100,000 searches a month.
