Two Days, then it's off to the gutter

I've got a client who has products and services in the stock market niche. He creates the products/services and I handle the marketing end of things.

In the past we have relied on SEO, media appearances (he is regularly on Fox) and JV/Affiliates and product launches to generate sales. Also have done some Google, but we have had 3 accounts banned so I've pretty much given up on that.

We have been having some success with FB, however there is something that is driving me nuts and I wonder if I could have any feedback.

We tend to notice that our ads get do very well for 2 or 3 days, and then go to the crapper. Once they have been up for about a week they are literally worthless, Click through rate goes to garbage, cost per lead goes up to about $20/$30. However, during the first few days we are picking up leads for around $6 to $8, which is great in our industry.

Just wondering if I'm totally screwing something up here that my ads are so effective for a few days and then die? Or is this what everyone else gets on FB too?

It's been very frustrating.

Kelly

It's called banner blindness. Users are seeing the same ad everyday and eventually they will no longer notice it's there. You have to frequently switch up your images and ad copy on social networks.

Cool. I was just curious if other people see the same thing.
I find that changing the image alone or the text alone does improve the result somewhat, but it's really only a half measure and to get back to anything worthwhile I have to change the entire ad every few days.
Then of course that can be hit or miss as some of my ads are very on target and some not so much.
Anyway thank you for the reply hotrodfrm, and if anyone else has feedback it that would be great.

    Thanks

I don't run FB Ads, can you run an Ad once a day & keep rotating.

Example, setup 7 Ads one Ad per day then repeat the 2nd week, & so on...

This way they only see the same Ad once a week.

There are cost effective ad networks where you can have stalking banners which allows your banner to stalk users whichever site they visit. Maybe you can test them out and see if they convert better.

In the past I've always been kind of a JV/Product launch guy to be honest. We have used 7search, bing, google and FB. What other networks would you suggest looking into?

I had a deck sent over from FB, and they recognise this themselves. Sorry I'd host the image, but its at work.

They recommend changing the ad copy and image every week or two. Theres a really good graph which shows the drop off and then increase with every changed ad. Its like clockwork.

You also need lots of simultaneous ad variations as a matter of course, for A/B testing as well as combatting banner blindness.

If it is Bill O'Reilly you are working with at Fox, then take his picture off the ad to improve your click ratio.

Seriously, try switching up the ads. I had a whole bunch of ads that caught my attention in October, very intriguing. Problem is it is now February and I have been seeing the same version of that add for 4 months. No clicks for them. They have become like wallpaper on my desk top that I don't have the desire to change.
