Does this tool exist?

Is there something out there that will tell you what keywords your site ranks for?

I know there are many tools where you give it a list of keywords and it tells you where your site ranks on google for them. What I am curious about is, am I ranking for any keywords that I don't know about?

Sounds silly, but you never know.

Thanks!

I would doubt, simply because the theoretical possibility is infinite number of keywords. In essence, you are looking at an infinite space simply because the tool would require searching the entire space of possible words, so I would doubt that.

If it were to take all permutations of words that appear in any form of your web page even then it would potentially be a very high number. It is definitely more than the factorial of of your page length (in terms of words). So I would seriously doubt.

There may be approximate tools but that would not tell you the entire story.

True. I know checking ALL possible words would be impossible, but something that did scan your site and create a list of words with combinations/permutations would be sweet.

    I smell a new software....

The fastest/closest one that I've ever seen is SEMRush - service for competitors research, shows Google organic and AdWords keywords for any site or domain

It kind of works backwords. It starts with 40M keywords and it searches the Top 20 results and downloads it once per month. When you input your URL, it'll tell you which of those 40M keywords you rank for, what your ranking is, and the volume and all that.

Jerry West said awhile back that he had a tool developed that scrapes popular keyword phrases off pages and checks the Google Serps.

In my niches, I know the keywords I want to rank for already. I don't think you'll see anything new in the reports that SEMRush will give you. I just use Google Analytics to see the keywords that I'm found for. Then when I find ones that are converting that higher than average rates, I plug those into something like SEOelite and start a campaign to lift my rankings.

The Google keywords tool can't show you that? I think it can.

I have found keywords that I never even knew by reading my Awstats.

Also, the sites I have listed in Webmaster tools show keywords that I wasn't even trying for.
