Hey warriors,

i have noticed something weird on one of my test websites.

although i get like 180 hits a day , adsense only shows me like 15 impressions, i have been trying to figure this out , but i can't seem to find a reason

anyone knows how this is possible ?

regards

where is it saying that you are gettin 180 hits a day?

As some analytic providers including bots into the hit count whereas adsense don't, try google analytics and they will give you detailed information on the amount of views your website is getting

I like to use the free open source Piwik for tracking.
It is unlikely to give exacty the same numbers as Adsense, but much closer than other tools, such as Awstats on your cpanle - which always seem to record very high numbers.
usually a good idea to use more than one tracking tool to cross check traffic and where it is coming from - at least until you are happy with the results

I just checked out the hits/actual visitors on my little hobby site for today...

The weblog analyser reports 2,047 hits
There have actually been 172 visitors.

      OK how is this?

1 visitor to this particular site generates more than 1 hit.

      The visitor 'hits'...
      the page
      the .css
      the header image
      the email button image
any other image on the page

Other 'hits' also include spiders/crawlers/bots, some of which crawl the whole site generating loads more hits

I guess (but I'm not sure) if you use e.g. Wordpress, then each 'include file' might also count as a hit...

So, your 180 hits and 15 impressions does not sound too far out.

      Best Wishes,

Impressions should equal page loads, or thereabouts.

          [quote google
A page impression is generated every time a user views a page displaying Google ads. We will count one page impression regardless of the number of ads displayed on that page. For example, if you have a page displaying three ad units and it is viewed twice, you will generate two page impressions and six ad unit impressions.
          [/quote]

15 page impressions would be mean the page was loaded 15 times.
So, ask yourself, how do 180 "hits" mean only 15 page loads?

15 page impressions means google counted only 15 of those page loads
          with adsense on them.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

  • You will generate a lot of "hits"... not users when various bots crawl your site. If you are not targeting specific countries then block those bots. Block any bot that you don't feel is benefiting your site. Empty traffic is worthless.
