Question on Backlinking

When building backlinks to a site built with wordpress do I need to build backlinks for all the pages (posts) that I want to rank high in the serps or just the main page?

Can each post be written around a different keyword and if so then what is considered as too many keywords for a website, or is there any?

Can I write several posts around the same keyword, should I build backlinks to each post?

I'm confused on little things such as this.

Also, Will bookmarking each post help to give it backlinks?
If I have already bookmarked the site, do I need to bookmark each post?

Please help!

Wherever the links go the page will show up in the serps
If the links go to the main page that will show in the serps
if the links go to another page, that page will show in the serps

Therefore, if I want a certain post to rank then I should backlink it?

  • definitely build links to inner pages, not just the homepage. The linkjuice from your inner pages will transfer back to your domain and so you get to kill 2 birds with one stone: Your keyword relevant inner page ranks highly and the domain becomes stronger at the same time and more authoritative. Yes, also bookmark your inner pages even though you bookmarked the homepage already.

You can't have too many keywords (though focus one page/post on one keyword, not multiple). Also, it's not a good idea to create different pages for the same keywords, doesn't really make sense, neither to SE's nor human visitors.

Also get links from different sources, not only bookmarks. There are lots out there, forum profiles, articles, web 2.0 properties, press releases...Hope that helps

Build backlinks to your inner pages/posts not only to the main page. You can target different keywords for each post/page.

Well, you can build links on every page then it would be best. That is advisable but of course it is also laborious.

You want a combination. Deep links (inner pages) are important because you want your content to rank as high as possible. Main page links are also important, and easier to get than deep links, because you want your domain to rank for your specific keywords.

The difference is between your handful of keywords and the longtail keywords, based upon your inner page titles and content.

you should backlink to all pages, optimise your meta tags for each page and then backlink the main keywords for each page

Is there a difference between backlinking using the keyword and backlinking using the url? If so, which is best?
