I could use some help getting backlinks

Well have you tried subscribing to some backlinks packages to get you going? Also try looking at some tutorial videos to help you get an idea of how to setup backlinks to your website. Here is a video tutorial and links to setup some backlinks...

  They were said above, I just wanted to let you know that once you start, you need to keep going, there is no easy way to just pop up a bunch of links, you need to work at it, and then you will see the results.

Do participate a lot of dofollow forums. It will help you to improve your backlinks quantity. Forum participation is really interesting and not boring like other forms of backlink generation.

  The most effective way of getting back links is through articles and blogs. If you create a blog make sure you link build it as well. If that blog got PR you can easily get link juice from it.

Try to get links from as many sites you can , of different categories. Do follow and no follow is the later part, you just keep focusing on getting links

All you need to know about backlinks was already posted here. So I just want to give emphasis in making a unique and quality content. Good quality backlinks with good quality content is very good.

A good way of getting back links is finding edu and gov websites and commenting on them including your anchor text for your keyword.
