High rankings for local client, low click-throughs. What would you do?

Hi Warriors,

I spent a great deal of time and energy ranking a few sites for a dental implant client of mine. Before I came on board, he was nowhere to be found (not even in the top 100 results for dental implants + City.)

Now that he is high up in the top ten for many keywords, I realize that VERY few people are clicking on the listings.

Would you write the title and description as a small ad (much like adwords) instead of dental implants + city as the title and dental implants + city as part of the description?

What would you do?

By the way, according to Google keyword Tool, people are searching for his services in rather high numbers.

Thanks!

2 things you might have done "wrong":

1.) Definitely write the listing like an ad. You have between 60-70 characters for the title and 160 characters for the description, make use of it but also use your keywords since they will show up bolded.

2.) What kind of local searches is that keyword getting? Maybe it's not low clickthroughs but low traffic overall for that keyword.

      Thanks BacklinkExcellence!

2,400 searches a month for one of his sites/services.

About 400 for his other site/service.

      • so how high is "high"? 2.4k doesn't seem bad though I hope that is the exact match search count, not broad match? And definitely work on your description.

Is that a global search or local exact match search. Something tells me 2400 local searches for Dental implants seems a little high. It would be quite a toothless area you come from if that is the case.

It is in a city of over 2 million. The percentage of people in North America who are missing at least one tooth is surprisingly high.

The funny thing is, the numbers aren't showing up anymore in Google Keyword Tool... not even for broad match.

If my memory serves me correctly, it was an exact match when I checked it months ago. Then again, I doubt Google is very precise.

      Thanks for your help.

Yes, unfortunately you can't rely on keyword tools. Might want to look up seobook's keyword tool, they get their data from wordtracker but actually show you a lot more than the free wordtracker option. If the numbers add up you should be good but I've seen quite some differences between those tools and then usually only one of them was right.
Now that you say the results don't show up anymore in GKT...it's not a very trending keyword is it? That could explain the issue as well.

Thanks again BacklinkExcellence. I really appreciate your help.

Am I on the right track here with the new title and description as an ad?

Title: Missing Teeth? Painful Dentures? Visit City Dental Implants

Description: For a beautiful new smile in a day, call us now at (Phone Number). Free consultation. Financing available. City Dental Implants.

          Thanks!

You could try changing the title and description but from time to time I've found that doing this results in a negative change in my rankings, in which case youd then need to do more link building etc.

Whats your current ranking? If you're still outside the top 3, keep working on it till you get in the top 3...thats where all the clicks are.
