Am I the only one having trouble finding good exact match domains?

I must be doing something wrong because it seems to be getting harder to find any decent exact match domains in the dot com extention.

Either someone has bought it up already and made a website with it, or someone bought it up just so as they can sell the name off at a ridiculously high price, (which ticks me off!).

Ok, I can use modifiers at the beginning or at the end but I am really confused about whether modifiers will make it harder to rank.

Some people say that domain names with modifiers just need a tiny bit more effort to rank but can be just as powerful as exact match. Others say that if you use a modifier you will have to do a LOT more work to rank.


What are your opinions?

Same thing regarding .net and .org.
If you cannot find an exact .com, is it better to have an exact match domain in a .net or .org rather than have an exact match with a modifier in a .com?

This is driving me nuts!

    Yea, the good ones seem to be taken, the solution may be to be more creative than others in turning up unused keywords. It certainly helps to use one of the smart domain tools that will bulk check names, with prefix suffix variations.
    It seems exact domains are most useful for specific nche sites, although it's just one of hundreds of factors, I would go for an exact .net first , then a .org before a .com with modifiers, I understand that a suffix modifier, making the domain start with the keyword is preferred.

    when i am looking for exact domain names i often go for one of the 3

    .com
    .org
    .net

    ive even heard sometimes that even if they are not available to add something on to the end of beginning and still as good

    Yep, fernando is right, sooooo many markets out there!

    I always register a .org or .net if the .com is available rather than hyphenate it or add to it in any way.
