Hi Guys,

I always considered myself a decent seo guy. I hired a someone to do backlinks for some of my sites. Bad luck though, this guy stole my secret keywords and his sites are now ranking higher than mine.

The thing is my sites have PR3, PR4 and his are ZERO. My backlinks accdg. to site explorer are around the range of 9k and his somewhere lower like 8k. Types on inbound links are the same.

I hired a writer once and have original content, whereas his site is like 99% duplicate content. Plus my site is older, and i refresh it with content daily or every 2 days.

I really don't get why google is ranking this site higher than mine.

The Google formula is anyone's guess and most of us do only guess at why they rank some sites better than others. But you may find, if you keep doing what you are doing that this other guy's site will drop again especially if he is not adding content as regularly as you are.

Sorry this happened to you but if you keep improving your site you will knock him back into place soon enough.

    Best of luck
    Ellen

I don't get it. How do you know it was the guy who did the backlink work for you?

Couldn't any competitor find out what keywords you are using for backlinks with a bit of research?

lol how do you know it is the guy you hired's site?

What position are you two fighting over? if its #5+ he is a real competitor if your both on the 5th page of google you still have lots of room to beat him.

I guess you learned a lesson in outsourcing here other can learn from...

Always start new employees on a test site to see how well they work and the quality you can expect from them. I never have any employee work on my high ranking money sites until they have a few solid months working for me under their belt.

How do i know it's him? He inserted links to his site on the same places he placed mine like in forum signatures, sometimes besides my link, that's how. LMAO.

No, we are fighting over 1st page in google. It just amazes me how he skyrocketed with such a new site.

What intrigues me is how FAST he can rank a new domain. He did this months ago and his site hasn't fallen. I can't figure out how he does it.

Oh btw, I always place 2nd on Bing, he could never knock me down there. He swings from 4 to sometimes out of first page in Bing. But in Google he is above me. If Google is so sophisticated why is it ranking a new site with 99% duplicate content above me for months. This is a shocker for me.

I'm trying to figure out what aspect of Caffeine is pushing his site higher than mine but i really can't figure it out.

If anyone has ever experienced this before, pls. share what you think is causing this.

could have been a number of factors that made him shoot up quickly.

    1. low TRUE competition for keyword
    2. exact match domain
    3. purchased an aged domain/site
    3. authority high PR backlinks

and the list can go on without knowing his site. PM me it and the keyword he is competing with you for and I will give it a quick look over and see what is giving him the most boost.

Nice, except that i'm scared that you will begin competing with my keywords as well
It is no for all the above, except i've never checked the pr of the backlinks he has.

Can anyone recommend an easy way to check the pr of a site's backlinks? I tried the Firefox SEO addon for yahoo site explorer, but it is very cumbersome to use and sometimes doesn't work...
