Hey everyone,

I am just getting my head around scrapebox got a few questions maybe you can help me with..

First what is the search string I would enter for say finding .gov sites to auto comment on?

I need to find examples of what footprints to type in..

Are scrapebox proxies good enough to use? or should I be looking to get private proxies? if so where do I get em from?

And what would be the best scrapebox tutorial guide out there?

As usual I value your imput..

Thanks guys

Marcus

    hi dude..
dont know about the footprints for autoapprove blogs but hope somebody shares it, but private proxies recommended, a public proxy can test ok, and failed the next second, got it!!, you can do free proxies but with private proxies your efficiency can increase to 80-90% and make make a difference sometimes...

foot print to use would be

site:.gov inurl:blog +"post a comment" -"comments are closed" -"commenting is not avaiable"

So that's if you want a blog, um for forums, i guess powered by expression engine, vbulletin? Don't really scrape that much

There's a lot of other strings for comments closed more or less. There's one format of blog that says these html tags are allowed. So i guess you could type something like

      site:.gov inurl:blog "a href" "keywords"

don't even need to type keywords if you don't want. but it'll return with all the blogs that you can use the href tag on.

I say just put your name in the "name" entry, and then your website etc. and then at the bottom of your post, put

      webmaster of <a href="yoursite.com">your anchor text</a>

Looks more professional and less spammy

I'm also starting with scrapebox and appreciate the tips already given. For me the isssue would be to find sites as described above. I'd stress dofollow and auto-approve is certainly desirable.

links from some .gov sites are very precious from the seo point of view...if there is some auto-approve site of such sort, it will be a big help for sure...

So, I played with the harvester and filtered for higher PR pages. How do I detect a site is "auto-approve", is there a different foot-print for that?

Use the string that was mentioned above, but it's impossible to identify if a blog is auto approve via a search string.

So, scrape as many of them as you can, then run the commenter. Then run the commenter again on all of the "failed" ones.

Then take all of the ones that are marked "posted" and run the "check links" feature to see which pages are linking back to you. The ones that are you can pretty much assume are going to be auto approved.

So then you will have a list of auto approve .gov domains and you can scrape for those domains specifically.

Thanks Pat, I see one first needs to put in some scraping work. I looked on the net for "auto approve lists", but many of them seem to be just url garbage.

At the moment I still need to familiarize with the scrapebox software. But it seems to be fun.

Scrapebox will either be a godsent or the kiss of death, take a day and really learn how to use it, and why things are happening.

A huge mistake I see with people when they see that a blog has been submitted to they think that it equals a link (auto-approve) etc.

All it means is that scrapebox was able to complete the following "fields"

    Name
    Email
    Website
    Comment

    and then submit

Thats all that the software is doing, from there you need to determine what is linking back, what are auto blogs that will never be checked by a webmaster, will issue malware, whatever...

Sorry for this being so basic to many, but its something I see so confusing to so many people over and over,

Bottomline, learn how to use scrapebox and for the love of god dont link directly to your domain unless you absolutely know what your doing, that is unless you want to get all up and personal with akemist (or how ever its spelled)

As for proxies, use private with everything you do except for one task, and that is if your going to ping the hell out of places like ezine,

and for all those who are thinking it, yes ezine and the gang will ban accounts that they feel are trying to game the system, and yes you absolutely can have your competitors accounts banned by "framing them" and they will in turn lose all the links from those type of sites.

Scrape a list, post to the list, check to see if any comments were approved, the ones which were approved by the time your done checking, are probably instantly approved / auto approved.

Is there a way to check with scrapebox to see later if the link is active? ie. the comment was approved?

The only way to find if a site is auto approve or not, that I know of, is to post and then run the Backlink Checker and if the post appears then it is more than likely an auto approve blog. Which doesn't mean that they will not go back and delete your comment afterward.

EDU and GOV sites don't give any more juice than any other site, according to Matt Cutts.

I gave this a try, and harvested only 70 unique domains which I posted to and out of the 70 I got one that posted. I didn't bother to check it with the backlink checker as it didn't seem worth while to me.

Not sure I like this method too much.
