KeyWord Research: Can a single person in google make a large seo result instead of seperate people?

So I was doing some seo keyword research this morning.. I found what I thought must be a couple nice available keywords because they had about 41 est (which i think means google searches in a day)

the only thing is that some of these keyword phrases seemed highly personalized.. and I thought "wait a minute!"

I asked myself "Did someone (one person) just type this into google the other day and searched it like 41 times...? I probably won't make much money if this wasn't 41 different people on a daily average.. :confused:


How is the EST calculated? Does it sometimes take just a single day, or does it do an average of each daily searches for that keyword over time?

    You cannot believe everything the search engines tell you. You also should treat results from the keyword tools with some care and common sense. If the phrase seems unlikely then use your common sense and ignore it.

    You will find gems for keywords - I do everyday - but when a strange phrase shows large numbers you should move on to the next one. The tools are not 100% accurate.

    I have 3 paid for keyword tools and still only use them as a guide to what to go for. I would go mental if I religiously followed the results shown. I would also not make any money.

    The google keyword tool is at least as good as the paid for tools. The reason you use the paid for tools is the way they present the info and analyse it.

      Thank you that is good advice...

      I'll still say it is soo odd to me that in this one niche i researched (hypoglycemia)

      I'll see this keyword phraze

      low grain and carbohydrate diets treat hypoglycemia heart

      in seo book it says 31 google searches and 13 yahoo (in that specific phrase order).
      Seriously?? It's crazy to me that someone would type that exact phrase in google and other people would be typing that same "random" exact phraze in yahoo. it's really hard to buy because it seems very random!

      If anyone has any additional feedback on this, it is very welcome. Thanks

        That does seem pretty strange Carson.

        I just went over to google, and I hit "exact" and typed in your keyword... just what might be expected. No searches.

        Then I narrowed it down to "low grain and carbohydrate" and I hit the "only show ideas closely related" button. I wanted to see if there were any variations of this keyword being searched. And STILL no searches!

        Again this is for exact.

        So I would nix this keyword. But maybe I'm still missing something.

          Hi Carson,

          There are few things you need to know.

          Firstly a keyword tool only collates data that google tells it.... so it still has a margin for error.

          Secondly A keyword is not a good keyword for searches ONLY.

          - A keyword should have at least 3000+ searches monthly

          - The Commercial Intent should be high

          - The search engine competition should be relatively low.

          - There should be multiple monetization opportunities for the keyword.

          Follow those 4 criteria and you can't be led astray.

    Yea, I don't use paid keyword tools for the reasons you're talking about. Doing keyword research manually really isn't difficult and I generally find better results with manual searching. I've never quite understood why people use paid keyword tools, but I'm convinced it leaves more names open for me to register, lol. I think the keyword tools are missing the rising domains until they top a certain monthly average, but the CSV file you download from the Google keyword tool can give you monthly information instead of monthly averages based on a year (which is how I find some of my best domains).
