Wordpress Static Homepage Advice

On one of my wordpress sites I have a static homepage.

Can someone tell me if this helps or hinders the ranking of this website?

I make a new blog post every other day, so there is new regular content but
the url is 'mywesite.com/blog' not 'mywebsite.com' which it would be if I didn't have a static homepage.

Any advice will be helpful, as I am confusing myself about this.

    Makes no difference at all. G is using your feed, sitemap, and all other pages.
