Competitor and lots of fake, high pr blogs

Hi guys, I've been looking my number 1 google competitor. I'm exploring his backlinks, with yahoo site explorer.

He/she has around 100 high pr backlinks. When I view these sites, they're all pretty much the same, just reskined.

Lots of nonsence blog entries, and commenting is either turned off, or you need to sign in... and there's no registration.

I take it this is some sort of trick... I'm still a green horn, so, what is this? How do I make him pay for this insolence!

I need to fight back, can a skilled warrior please give some som decent ammo

Example, they didn't even bother to change the default pic in twenty ten!

I want to know what this is too. Is it like a private blog network or something?

I am doing local SEO for my website. Like keyword/city/state. Its pretty easy in my area. A lot of times when I'm looking for relevant blogs or forums to post on I will search keywords in more competitive markets. Like major metro areas and will see this type of linking.

its a pr 4 front page in-content link blog
thats their sole purpose and the owner is probably the same person using that link

it could be a network also so he mightve paid for those

You need a decent ammo? You should really start to use private blog networks.
this might help New Service | Big G Top Rank SEO

but there are also other providers that you might want to use. Its really your choice

      How about this linking method.

A static page with a few links. The URL was like bh3p.34yt.com or something like that. I could only find the link I was looking for in the source code. It seems kind of like a keyword stuffing type method but there was only one link. You think it might just be a broken contextual link? The content was relevant to the niche. I also saw a nikeairjordans654.com URL with just a screen shot of the niche website home page that is totally unrelated and a link to the niche homepage. I guess these are just black hat links?
