Link buying dead? Hmmmm.

I make more money selling links than anything else. After the JCP
story, I thought that I might see a dip. Quite the contrary.
Granted, I deal with link brokers 75% of the time, but just sold
two ads for two huge companies directly to their websites.

I don't think google could have given a rip about JCP if it hadn't
made the SEO rounds with such fervor. And all they did was just
de-value the links.

    Hi Paul,

Why would anyone not be interested in buying links from you if your website has targeted traffic? There is nothing ethically wrong with purchasing links for traffic.

As long as you are willing to vouch for the quality of the websites that you link to and those links are useful and relevant for your users then not even Google will have a problem. However, links that offer no value and are sold expressly for the purpose of manipulating PR are consider web spam by Google and subject to devaluation.

One thing you should consider is that if the links you sell are for web spam purposes then you may see your traffic suffer when Google lowers the trust ranking of your pages.

Well, no question they all want "good" text links.
Contextual links surrounded by content. I am always happy to
oblige. Most times, they even propose the sentence or paragraph,
telling me to tweak if it needs tweaking to be a better fit.
They are not always just buying for "traffic," if you get my drift.

Of course they are not just buying the traffic. This whole thing with JCPenny has gotten a bit blown up.

If you want to buy/sell links, you can do that. No problem. Just have be careful (this has always been the case).

Honestly, what is the difference between buying a link and buying a banner ad, which is also a link. Only Google vilified this as a means to protect their interests despite the fact that it was a practice long before they existed.

Link buying is in the nature of seo. A link is always a link It doesn't matter what kind of link it is.
