Going up against PR4-PR5 websites

Hello everyone.

How are you doing? Hope you're well

I had a small question related to SEO. As it stands, I'm thinking of building a fansite for a particular celebrity. The content is no issue and I've done a fansite before and it was a great experience.

This time around, the competition is very strong.

My question is:
If you had to go against a network of 3 websites which range from PR4 to PR5, where would you start?

The websites are deeply interlinked to each other as it's by the same company/person.

Looking for some sense of direction.

Warmest Regards,
Sagar

I outrank sites with the same or higher PR (mine is less) in probably a much more competitive niche. Build some quality links, create some great content. Then repeat until you outrank them.

First thing you need to do is stop thinking about PR, Although page rank does hold a small value in ranking factor its not be all and end all.

Focus on that content, then build some good quality links, be diverse with different methods of link building , do it properly and take your time, you'll get there, remember dont focus on beating their PR , focus on beating their position.

I very much agree with you.Even if facebook is PR 5 or less people will not stop making use of it.Because facebook have whatever they need.

So the only thing need is how famous the site is among the people.

It depends on how much time and resources you have and what is the retun on investment. If I'm not already in the market, I would definitely not compete with PR 4 or 5 sites. I rather go for easy pickings.

Others are depending on their precious page rank that is less important. The only concerns on this is how you will create a quality content and building quality links to your site.

PR doesnt matter. Build backlinks steadily and create new content every few days. If its a fansite you could get creative with social media as well, which is going to be a big factor in overall SEO sooner than later IMO.

I like this reply the best. Just staying busy does help but I am going to have to rethink my SEO strategy to speed things up a bit. I get discouraged too fast when I don't see results and I think I have a nice website and offer everything free.

Thank you all for your reply

I re-read my OP and felt that it makes it look like I feel high PR sites are unbeatable. Sorry about that.

I understand that PR, after all, is just a number and like anything else on Google, any site with a high PR can be beaten in the results.

What I'm wondering about is if I have all the bases covered. Here's my check list so far:

    1. .COM (or .NET) Domain name with main keyword phrase
    2. 2 or 3 more domains for separate keyword phrases
    3. Anchor links within content to among the above three with keyword phrase
    4. Backlinks from relevant websites

And of course, not to forget, good, relevant content.

Do I have everything I need?

Plus, I'm not very confident about the backlinks part. Why would a popular website in a niche link back to a new, competitior? That part of the equation is a little unclear.

    Any suggestions would be helpful

The backlinks you are planning to get won't come necessarily from a competitor, but from an authority site already linking to your competitor, so why not?
