Similar Company, Same registration address, Same IP - Can they all rank?

Hello,

I've recently started working for an internet marketing company and have been trying to get a restaurant ranked highly in the SERP. I managed to do a good job with 2 off the restaurants, one has a number 1 listing, the other is at number 6. However, for the third restaurant, the rankings fluctuate between the first and 2nd page.

Now after doing some digging, I found out all 3 companies are on the same IP and have the same registration address(our company) and are all selling Italian Food.

These are all definitely different companies, but operating in the same geographic region. Is the fact they have the same IP, and are registered to the same address, affecting how they rank? Common sense tells me that Google probably don't want people to rank for the same keywords if they are owned by the same person - this is how it will probably look to Google as they share the same registration address and are on the same IP.

If I transfer the domain to a different IP, and change the address of the registered owner of the name. Would that affect page rank and the rankings on the SERP?

If you want them to rank for the exact same keyword/phrase, then yes, it does get harder the more websites with identical "roots" try to compete for the same kw.
But it's more important if you want to interlink these websites to give each other link juice, there will not be much benefit if they are all on the same server, having the same whois.

I understand thanks. It's 3 different sites, so we don't really need to pass on link juice between them.

Also, will it affect the page rank, or search engine rank if I change the domain registration address of one of the sites and stick it on a different ip?
