Google serps behaving strangely?

When I had to check how my ranking in google, I discovered I was in second place on google first page for my keyword. This is checked through google.com and without being logged into my google account.

But when I check my rankings through hidemyass.com's proxy servers, so I'm not in the same place on google?

Is google playing with me or what's going on?

You're getting personalized results. In other words, you are not really ranking second for your keyword. Google just knows you've been on your own site a lot and therefor shows it to you when you type in your target keyword.

Even if you're not logged in. Your still cookied and even if you cleaned your cookies, you're still LSO-cookied.

Other people are not seeing your site in second place. It's just you.

But that dosen't make any sense. Since I've just checked my position in Google with another private proxy of mine that is hosted in Netherland. And when I'm doing a search for my main keyword I'm still on the second spot. hm.

Are you getting any traffic from that keyword?

Yes I'm getting small amount of traffic from the main keyword. But I get most traffic from main keyword + another word.

So if people are browsing Google from 2 different data centers some people will see my page at first page a others will see it on page 2 etc?

This is really strange. Now I just checked with another free proxy for main keyword + 2011 added in the end. And there I'm ranked at 5 spot on 1 page.

Main keyword + 2011 is the keyword i get most traffic from. And when I check it from my home ip I'm ranked in spot 2, same with my private proxy.

EDIT: It looks like Google rank my site completely differently depending on the ip I'm searching from. I'm really confused right now.

Is the location relevant in anyway to your keyword?
