PPC + Clickbank = ????

I'm thinking of using adwords for the first time properly, not to chuck money at it but just to run some tests and see what happens. I'll be running the PPC to my clickbank sites myself. I've just been studying the ways I can most effectively spend as little money as possible with the PPC campaign.

I could write A LOT about this, citing numbers, statistics etc...but i am tired today.

Short: FORGET IT. Dont do Adwords/Clickbank

There is an exception, if you are extremely experienced w/ Adwords/PPC and did extensive split testing and (after a long time and lots of tweaking) found some niche/keywords which are actually profitable.

For the majority of people Adwords + Clickbank == FAIL

Dont believe ONE word what the random Cb vendors tells you - 95% of them have not the slightest clue and they dont give a ****. They will tell you you can make zillions by using keywords like "make money" etc...which alone is proof that they never even did PPC. The GOOD vendors (there are only very few!) will tell you how to promote right and they will not tell you how "easy" it is with Adwords/Clickbank.

There are zillions of alternatives which are used by the super affiliates (media buys, audience targeting, banners etc.)...NONE SERIOUS in their mind would run some Clickbank product with 1:90 conversion on ADWORDS <--- total fail in the making.

Yes, "many affiliates" are using PPC, but notice how the "many affiliates" are always newbies which started Adwords...let a campaign run for a week or two UNTIL they realize they only lost money.

"Many affiliates" promoting is NOT an indicator (it only shows that always some newbs are trying)......rather how many affiliates are promoting ONE product/niche for a long time already. THEN you could say..."hmm...if it works for him it must work for me too".

While your numbers (in theory) sound all nice...in hard practice the math doesnt work.

Why?

a) Bid prizes on MOST niches/keywords on Adwords are RIDICULOUS
b) Avg. conversion rate on Clickbank 1:85
c) Avg. payout/commission of PRODUCT..which is often barely $25. (Majority of products on CB is in the 20-30 range)

The math simply doesn't work with Adwords.


I can run you a zillion of keywords and nowadays you have to be lucky to get anywhere with a 0.40-0.50 bid....NOT EVEN TO MENTION niches like weight loss, colon cleanse, insurance....

So even if you "only" pay $0.40 per click....take this times 80x and then you already paid $32 on clicks... and this is NOT an expensive niche like weight loss where you would pay anywhere up to $3 or so per click.

You will NOT sell 80x product...*if you are lucky* you get one sale after 80/90 clicks...if you are extremely lucky you convert 1:50 (rare...), you already paid $20-$32 on clicks...and now you get a $25 commission on some dog training ebook? See where this is going?

Don't do CB on adwords. They will close your account. You may get away with it for a while, but when they catch you, you will get shut down and you cant re-open it. Here is where my advise comes from - helping hundreds of people with their adwords accounts - many of which had lost accounts because they were promoting affiliate products - clickbank among them.
