I Got Deindexed (Banned). Now Did a 301.. Good Idea?

I had a site that got deindexed -- completely banned - - on Feb 4th. It wouldn't show in site:domainamehere.com. I am still perplexed on why this happened -- I think its because I had WP ROBOT on it, but I had lots of original content on it also. It definitely was 80% fresh and original content.

Anyway, its a mystery I will never solve and its now behind me.

I sent in two reconsideration requests, which they sent me a cookie-cutter responses to.... but nothing ever happened, and I still remained deindexed.

Strangely the backlinks I had to it were still in tact.

So what I have done is 301'd the site so it now routes to a brand new site I put up on wordpress, with fresh content.

Do you think I will be able to obtain decent ranks? Or will this new site forever have a hard time?

    Probably 700 backlinks.. and high quality.. been building for a long time.
