Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone knows whether "likes" on Facebook help your seo causes? For example you write an article, share it on Facebook, and then get a few likes on it...do you think or know that it helps your SEO rankings? The more like you get the more SEO power it'll give you? Any insight would be appreciated!

Not directly, but 'likes' can get you more visitors, more visitors can make a blogpost about your site/other kind of backlink giving you even more visitors, etc.

Great question. Facebook does use it on it's internal search, which will ultimately compete with Google in the not so far future.
Also if you put a "like" button on a site the code will be readable by Google.

I believe it helps to increase the number of visitors but I do not think that has any effect on your keyword rankings or page rank.

I haven't heard any relations between Facebook likes and SEO yet. But I can guarantee that extra likes can give extra traffic of course.

Not sure about SEO, but "Likes" definitely help with traffic. When people like our articles, it posts a link, image and summary to their wall, meaning all their friends see it. Great for going viral.

You can see how we've implemented it in the first link in my sig if you want. Facebook is our top traffic refferer.
