Hi all,

Since I started using WordPress two years ago, I used it as a blogging platform instead of as a Content Management System (CMS), so I would like to know how can I use WordPress as a content management system to create a silo structured website? I need a little guidance, because I am lost on how to do this using my Thesis for WordPress theme  .

Wordpress is constantly evolving as a CMS platform. It's pretty good now and with the advantage of its built in blog - it's excellent.

I'm still not convinced about handling serious sites >1000 pages but I would happily use it on smaller sites.

Best thing to do is to buy a theme from ThemeForest and adapt it.

No point in writing something from scratch if there's something out there that will 75% of it for $35USD.

wordpress will be good for you trust me. considering how much the search engines love it and how light it is. but if it comes to customization, i think most themes have different ways of customization, so you'd have to seek help from the theme authors when you buy a theme or ask around in forums.

    Hi Terry,

Wordpress is a CMS that was custom built for blogging. You are already using it as a CMS, you have just been using it in its' default configuration which is optimized for blogging. It is just as easy to use for non blogs, you just need to make a few adjustments.

To use Wordpress as a normal website (Not as a blog) just create a static front page and use pages rather than posts for your content. You can still use the posts page for things like news, events or as a blog subsection of your website.
