First Project: Outrank eHowe, and a Wiki?

Hello all,

I'm about to embark on my first project. I've decided to concentrate on niche affiliate marketing w/ WP Blogs (self-hosted) to begin with.

In doing my preliminary keyword research (special thanks to MS's 'Dojo' for the succinct, yet insightful videos) I stumbled on a 3x word keyword phrase that looks like it has potential to couple with a Clickbank product.

Of the top 5 ranking sites for that particular keyword phrase, 3 are eHowe pages, 1 is amazon, and 1 is a wiki page.

Based on the SEO Competition tab of MS, they look pretty rock solid with stat's that only mega-sites can have, but recently I watched a video (sorry, don't recall where) that suggested eHow and Wikipedia are super simple to dominate with basic targeted SEO?

Since eHowe seems to have come out OK post Google algo update things may be different than they were just a week or so ago, but I'd be curious what conventional wisdom dictates?

Either way, I think I'll go for it just to get my feet wet, but would appreciate any feedback.

For the record, 4 of the 5 mentioned have a 2 out of 3 keyword phrase match in URL. The 5th is an exact URL match.

I'd also like to take a second and thank the awesome WF community. I've learned Soo much in such a short time from all the great posts here!

Sincerely,

Sondor
