If you're seeing your site at #1 but rank-check tools aren't, it could be that Google's personal history settings is showing you your activity. If that's the case, clear cookies or try at scroogle.org which is a cookieless scrape of the results.

Are you sure your site is actually ranked number 1? If you are using Chrome, click on the little wrench icon on the top right of the browser. Then click 'New incognito window'.

      Now do your search again.

I think what he meant was that he couldn't think of anything useful, so he just went with anything to increase his post count.

Otherwise yeah, I can see myself sitting down at google and plodding through to find my 54 sites, and then hopping on over to Site Explorer to process all their backlinks. Then doing the same thing for the top 10 competitors, then...

If I worked on that premise it would be 2012 before I could actually do some real work. Plainly, that post is ridiculous.

Yeah maybe if you have 3 keywords. It wastes time and there are TONS of tools you can use to ACCURATELY track your rankings. RankTracker (both the really expensive one and the free Firefox add-on) are probably the most popular, I always used SEO Elite from time to time as well. They're all pretty damn spot on.

We plan to develop online tool that will basically allow people to track their rankings.
    - unlimited domains
    - unlimited keywords
    - daily update
    - history
    - pdf reports (white label)

We decided to ask you about features you would like to have in it. I would really appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

    1) Would you be interested in simple, basic serp tracker (without 500 different barely used additional features) or maybe something more complex?

    2) What is the monthly fee you are ready to pay for it?

    3) What features would you like to have in it?

    4) Would you like us to build app for Mobile devices (Apple iOS / Android)?

    5) Is there anything else you would like us to know?

    Thank you in advance.

Download rankerizer (free) which will check for ranking and page rank on google. It also finds your sites rank on bing and yahoo.

It displays only rankings that are in between 1 - 100 positions only (10 pages only) but accuracy wise this is the best.

The site in my signature is a great free SERP tool and uses private proxies and allows you to save up to 20 keywords to check and track the SERP movement. It also does some on-site SEO by checking the title and description of the top sites and yours to see if your keywords are part of them.

Did we mention it is free?

I still feel the best way to check your ranking is through "google analytics" or "google webmaster tools" install it on your site and check.

if your site is ranked top 50,
do a manual check, meaning go to google search your keywords, then go to the page you think your site should be.

if not install "statcounter" on your site,
then watch the ranks fly, but to me, i'm still sticking to "google webmasters tools".

    Thanks

in Google chrome, right click, open developer tools. On the browser, there is a refersh button, right click on that, will provided with options "hard referesh". Just do this and see if any changes you can see.

And when you're ranking in top 10, i think you don't need ranking tool, anyway you can check mondovo.com - good one for checking serps in desired countries and locations.
