Can I Sell an Ebook Purely via Adword and Facebook Ads?

I am exploring this method but I want to see what others comments are before I implement it.

Lets say I found a niche (outside IM) and I want to create an ebook on it, do you think it makes sense for me to use adword to sell it?

I probably won't build a list but drive traffic to my sales page via adword or facebook ads...

what do you think?

    Depending on how targeted and competitive the niche is, I think it is actually a great idea.

      1. Price your product
      2. Assume a conversion rate
      3. Identify cost per click

      4. Run the maths to see if you'll break even or make profit on an e-book converting at no more than 1%, given the CPC and pricing.

      As far as I've seen, this is almost never profitable, because CPC precludes you from having an inexpensive product, while increasing the price to allow for CPC reduces your conversion rate.

      However, if you're using a marketing funnel with upsells, memberships, or other form of monetization of existing customers (I noticed you said you don't want to build a list), then then you can make a profit.

    If the niche has a problem attached to it, and the keywords typed into Google match the problem then AdWords is an option.

    Facebook is full of casual browsers, you need to get there attention with a free offer, then work on them with e-mail marketing - that's just my opinion

    Of course it's possible. The key is to track and test your campaign to determine if it can be profitable, and to make changes if necessary to turn it into a profitable one (i.e. ad copy, images, salesletter, pricing, sales funnel).

    There are quite a few moving parts to this, so it may require some testing and time to get it right.

      A lot of things are possible - I just want to make sure that the OP understands it's nowhere near as simple as Adwords -> Website -> Profit

        Agreed. I mentioned that there are many moving parts to pulling this off, and I was in no way implying that it'd be easy or fast.

    I think you can.. but is it worth it? I'd rather send traffic to a squeeze page and capture leads first. This way you can introduce a side way sales letter, instead of a vertical sales letter (Jeff Walker talking here )
