Ok. I'm not sure if this belongs in SEO discussions or in the programming / web design section, but here goes.

I just ran a check of my site using Site Auditor because I seem to have lost momentum in the SEs - probably because of the algo changes, maybe? Anyway, I'm hoping you SEO experts can offer some suggestions as I'm not sure what I'm reading in these results.

1. Link destinations:
Internal 3677 - 76%
External 1126 - 23%

Should these be equal? Or should external be higher?

2. HTML Validity = 63 pages (98%) have errors and warnings:
No Meta Descriptions or Keywords ? all posts.

This is odd, since I did enter keywords when posting the articles.
Since this is a Wordpress blog, where do I set meta descriptions? I think I had a plugin once for this, but lost it when my old site crashed. Can you recommend a good one?

3. No/Do Follow = all 4803 links are do follow.

Should I have a percent no follow?
I don't know what is the importance of this option.

4. Link value = 100% (all 64 pages) are in red, i.e.: no link juice being divided across linked-to pages.

Not sure how this should work. Pretty much every post has links going out to affiliate products but there should be some pointing to my internal product review pages, so I don't know why it's not showing any in green. Is there a percentage that should link internally?

5. Presence in SEs = 1 page of 64 indexed! (Google & Yahoo – no link in Bing)

Since this is a WP blog, I don't understand why Google hasn't indexed any of my posts. Is there something specific I should be doing to make this happen?

Program suggests:
if a large number of all pages are not indexed, use certain techniques to encourage indexing ?

How do I do this?

I appreciate your help, guys.

Thank you.

Sylvia

    Hi Sylvia,
    Regarding Meta Descriptions and keywords.
Since you are using wordpress; search plugins for, "all in one seo" and "all in one webmaster". Follow the instructions and make changes "site-wide" where possible. Create posts/pages with 500 words minimum.

Open a firefox browser and install the "SEO Quake plugin" (search "seo quake" in google). Using the seo quake tool bar you can then review your sites the way search engines view your site, currently your keywords are; products, site, business, and dog.
A keyword that you are trying to rank for on any give page should have as follows:
    A keyword should be:
    1. in the url (www.example.com/keyword (make catagories keywords in wordpress)) also CopywriterSylviaDickens.com EditorSylviaDickens.com verses SylviaDickens.com
    2. in the title (example: Wealth Attraction, How Its Possible) verses (How Is Wealth Attaction Possible)
    3. in the <h1> <h2> <h3> headlines example <h1>Content Copywriter Editor Online verses Working online and loving it <h2> Content Copywriting Example verses Healthy Dog Nutrition Secrets
    4. in 3 to 7% of the body content (density).
    5. in the picture alt tags and image url (images/content-copywriter.jpg verses images/SylviaDickensLogo1copy.jpg)
    6. in the first and last sentence of the page or post.
    7. underlined, bolded, and italisized at least once per page.
    8. linked to another similar content page in your site and to another authority site.
The keyword should also appear in your meta description. Once you install the "all in one seo" wordpress plugin, a place to enter your Meta Descriptions will appear on your page/post editor admin-page on the bottom, adhere to the word count listed!

Once you do this go to pingoat.com and pingomatic.com and "ping" your newly optimized pages, then a few days later enter the entire url of your newly optimized page into the search engines so they get re-cached. This is a start...

    Good luck

      ShaLiam,

Thank you for taking the time to give such detail.

See, that's the thing. I do all of those things. My headline always has the keyword, which also appears in the first sentence, around the second paragraph, and at the very end. These I link to pages where they can either read my product review on another page, or go directly to the affiliate site, depending which anchor text they click. Although I admit I don't always bold or italicize it. I'll make sure I do that.

I have a good list of ping sites in my blog including Pingoat, so that should be covered automatically with every post.

The only thing I haven't been doing is description per post because I forgot about that meta plugin. And I do remember it now. I was using All In One SEO.

Thanks for the tip on the Webmaster one. I didn't know about that one.

Because I've done 99% of what you say I'm so confused about Google's decision to ignore my site. Maybe I did something to get sandboxed. Is there a way to find out?

Then they'd have to have done it to all 3-4 of my sites because none seem to be performing.

Well we will have to agree to disagree then because you are not doing these things on your SylviaDickens.com. Your home page is about several different topics, It should only be about content copywriting and content editing services.

        Products (should be) Editing Services
Web Sites (should be) Copywriting Service

Your examples should be on a seperate page one titled "content editing protfolio", the other "Content Copywriting Portfolio" verses just "portfolio.

Services should be re-titled "Content Editing Services" and "Content Copywriting Services".

Your home page must be renamed "Copywriter-Editor" verses "Home". Contact Us should be "Copywriter Contact"

          Thank you again...

I sent you a PM explaining about my plan for that site. Basically, I've never bothered doing SEO on that site because it didn't matter. It's just there so that when people ask, I have somewhere to send them. There's little on that site that I'm trying to get ranked for. In fact, I just threw it together to get the info up there with absolutely no thought to SEO.

One of my sites in particular that I was referring to is Natural Anxiety Remedies which I have been working on SEO. I'm sure if you look there, you'll see that I am in agreement with you - in that, I am doing the keyword density as you say.

The site you checked is not a WP site, the other is. I guess this would have worked better if I'd provided the actual sites in my query, huh?
