The reliability of market samurai

Recently, i used market samurai to check SEOC for a keyword. it showed 2 160 000 competition, then seacrh it by myself again, it showed 4 060 000, the difference is nearly a double.

The method i use is exact match , like "how to lose weight fast"

can anyone tell me, is this normally happen in keyword analysis program

or
simply it is an inferior program

or

caused by the recent attack that happen in market samurai??

    I wouldn't call Market Samurai inferior, it is easily one of the best, if not the best product for keyword research.

    One of the explanations would be that you used google for your country, and MS used google for another country, these results may differ. However this is just me thinking aloud, because I haven't noticed such thing.

    However, this is one metric I refuse to believe in. From my experience, the number of competing pages doesn't matter at all.

    Here's why. If you wanted to win a race (which is basically what SEO is about), you'd look at the results at top runners (top 10 pages), and the fact that there are 10000 more people running shouldn't matter.

    Do you think which one is best ?

    one query result : 1.000.000 result but top 3 ones pr2 and 100 backlinks

    another query result : 1000 result but top 3 ones pr5 or above 50000 backlinks


    Just analyse top 3 ones. If you agree you can eat them than go with it

    Not: for SEO result there are other parameters other than pr and backlink number

        Just downloaded the latest paid version of MS. And it seems to be getting LESS user friendly. FIRST, HOW do you delete an exisitng project? Don't see any optiom for that. I did a keyword analysis to extract some long tails. Than I hit the Analyze Keyword again and it removed all the long tails. Now , no matter what I could I cannot get the long tails keywords back. So I want to delete the project and start over. No easy way here.

    I don't know what version of MS Matt is using but it has been full of errors for a month or so. I would not trust any results you discover using MS until they get it fixed.

    The complaints got so bad that they had to close the Market Samurai forum.
    Just search market samurai on the different IM forums including WF and you will see all the neg feedback from users.

    PS! It has been one of my mainstay IM tools for 2 years now, but at the moment it's useless. (Hope the MS team can fix it soon)

    Nofearman- I'm glad I'm not just a dumb noob. I just got the trial version today and am having the exact same issues. Words and phrases I had approved disappeared and I can't clear a project either.
    It seems like it would be a really cool program, but I'm not convinced I should buy it. I tried to go to the forum and like someone else said, it's gone!
