ok you might already know this but I"m sure there are people who don't.

Just use this earch term site:.edu inurl:blog "post a comment", but make sure you check that they're dofollow. There are many SEO plugins that do it.

If you're using Firefox, try the SEO plugin. The links on a website automatically are highlighted when the website is no follow.

Once you have the plugin what you have to do is go to the comment section of the page and if the names are not highlighted, fire away.

THere is no point in getting edu backlinks unless they have a high page rank

True. But you can easily find out the PR using stats from the seo plugin.

The debate is out on that, but, even if you're right, it's an extremely short-sighted point of view. Just because it has a low PR today doesn't mean it will have a low PR tomorrow, and, since it IS an edu domain, it's very likely that link WILL be on a decent PR page in the future, even if it isn't today.

But most edu links are nofollow, so that's going to be a problem.

Thankfully most of the forums in my country in dofollow

There are also 2 or 3 major universities that I know of opened a blogging service for their students with .edu,
most of the blogs are quite funny, I mean people blogging with the original purpose of blogging - to show off themselves - no money oriented blogs,
and once again the blogs comments are dofollow.

edu links are the same as other links... Just try and get quality related back links for your site, stay away from gimmicks as eventually they wont count for anything

I'm a fan of .edu links. Whether they have PR or not, I will take a .edu link over most other links any time I can.

I wanted to warn people that after I used this search query for several hours, while searching for edu blogs, google started giving me captcha's and a warning that I might be using a program or a search that may be against their TOS.
