Hi

I do my husband's website and I have added some pdf articles - these are picked up by google. But the aren't useful for search terms. Is it possible to add pdf's to the website and add a 'no follow rule'?

thanks

M

why would you want to put a nofollow on a pdf when you can get search traffic from pdf files?

I wouldn't bother using them since pages wont get indexed if nofollow is applied to your site. If you do, make sure you use them so there is at least one way that the page can be crawled by the S.E.

      Hi M,

It sounds like you are looking to have your pdf file not indexed. "No Follow" is generally used for outbound links. If I understand what you are trying to accomplish, you want to prevent your pdf files from being indexed.

You can use a robots.txt file to prevent the search engine bots from crawling and indexing these files. Put them all in a sub directory and add a line to your robots.txt file to disallow.
