Question Regarding Adsense Ads

I just created my very first site solely focused on adsense revenue and clicks. However I am noticing that on this new site most of the ads on the home page are directing to products and items not related to the niche. Forinstance many of the home page ads are showing renewable energy products along with wordpress and or blogging products. This is only on the home page and the actual articles on this site show related ads.

What can I do to fix this so that it is showing the right ads on the home page and not ads related to something completely different then what the site was intended to show.

Thanks for your time and advice in advance

    Use this tag for telling Adsense about your niche

    <!-- google_ad_section_start -->

    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

      Section targeting is a bad idea. Google will ignore it if there
      is not enough content. Content is king when it comes to
      adsense ads, but there are some things you can do.

      Work on a good title and use an <h1> tag.

      Turn off interest based ads.

      New sites will take time for google to optimize your site.

      Section targeting just does not work. If you try and schmooze
      google doing that, you will be dinged.

      You can also use the competitive ad filter.

      Give google time to optimize the ads.

        I have to disagree, Paul. The best way to target ads is good keyword focused content but section targeting can work, too. The trick to it is to put the proper keyword related content in between the targeting script lines.

        I've used it mainly on blogs at times and though it takes a couple days, the ads do begin to target correctly.

        However, I agree that's not the way to approach using adsense. Ads are based on the subject matter of your content so that's the place to start.

          I run a few file download sites, my on page text is maybe 10 words at most.

          I do what Paul said in his post + optimize images for seo & a lot of other on-page seo.

          I use Google Chrome Incognito to check my Ads, & also have my brother (600+ miles away) send me screenshots of a few of my sites pages that include the same Adsense Ads I'm looking at (most times). So, I know Google isn't showing me Ads based on my browser history. He runs the basic Firefox browser without clearing his search history.

          Just saying it does work very good,

    Do what Paul said, it works! I get very targeted Adsense Ads on my sites.

    After you make the changes on your site, start posting a few new blog post (or pages whatever you use).
