Hello Everyone!

I'm planning to setup an ecommerce website and I am very very excited about it. While I am used to Wordpress and I can use Wordpress with my eyes closed, I am worried that the platform isn't great for e-commerce.

I was thinking something along the lines of Joomla and or E-Commerce/Magento but here are a few considerations:

1) What platform supports plugins?
2) What platform supports easy SEO implementation, likened to how easy wordpress can implement SEO on websites?
3) Lastly, there is a current website right now that will be migrated to the platform and seo-wise, we are doing great. What platform can maintain that the URLS will not change?

Thanks alot

    [QUOTE=kaswistry;3516756]Hello Everyone!

I was thinking something along the lines of Joomla and or E-Commerce/Magento but here are a few considerations:

IMO, Magento is a great ecommerce platform. But you must have a good Magento programmer to help you if you already are not one.

    1) What platform supports plugins?

There are third party plugins developed specifically by Magneto. You can see them on the magentocommerce site. But they are all paid ones.

    2) What platform supports easy SEO implementation, likened to how easy wordpress can implement SEO on websites?

Magneto is very good for SEO and they have a clean interface in the backend for good on page optimization like meta tags.

    3) Lastly, there is a current website right now that will be migrated to the platform and seo-wise, we are doing great. What platform can maintain that the URLS will not change?

I am not sure what your current platform is. It is easy to export .sql database to Magento as well.

      Hi Raviv!

I know nothing about Magento to tell you honestly although I have great and fast learning skills. Would it be possible for me to do it even if I do not know anything about the system? I was initially hoping something like wordpress, you just install and edit and you're done. And the interface should be really easy to use too.

What other platforms offer free plugins?

Lastly, there is a current website right now that will be migrated to the platform and seo-wise, we are doing great. What platform can maintain that the URLS will not change?
I am using wordpress right now and I was hoping to preserve my link structure. For example, if my domain is domain.com and the current link structure is domain.com/this-is-an-article, it will remain the same even if I migrate

        Hi Kaswistry
Magnento is not everyone's cup of tea. You need to have a good knowledge of PHP and MySQL. That is why I mentioned that it is good to have an experienced Magento programmer on board if you do not know anything about it.

If you want details of a good Magento programmer, I can lead you to one. Feel free to PM me.

Are you an expert with PHP and mySQL? You will need a server that supports innoDB.

All you need is a migration script, whether you move to magento drupal or joomla... hell even prestashop.

I think you should opt for Zencart. It's perfect from the SEO perspective.
