Should I register this domain?

I was playing with google adword keyword tool looking for some related keywords for my niche and I stumbled into this particular keyword. The keyword is 3 short words and having 74K exact result in both global and US. I checked the domain availability and only the /biz is available. The adword competition is moderate (no plan to do the adword anyway).

I checked google search result and the first position is not the exact thing. The first position has the prefix "the" (thekeyword.com) and the number 10 position is keyword.org. All other sites on top 10 have no exact keyword in the URL. Another thing is that, the first position is a parked domain having a little more than 50 backlinks while the .org (10th) has around 200 backlinks.

Considering the amount of exact search date, should I go and get the .biz? The domain will do good with amazon and adsense I think...

The reason why I am asking, as much as possible these days I don;t want to register any new domain not unless it is very important.

Any suggestion is highly appreciated..

Thanks,
adie

a .biz domain from my experience can get to second page with the exact keywords. I have a .biz domain and it is with the exact keywords, but i am trying to get it on the first page for more than 1 month without any succes, just like your case on the first page exists domains with thekeyword.com and ... You may try to register it but for getting it on the first page will take some time.

I don't have any problem ranking a .biz domain, I just don't like to hear how it pronounced.. LOL

From what you wrote, the domain appears good enough for some sleek profit.

I also agree with you that registering domain should be when some pointers are showing their profitability.

But in this instance, it is good, go for it and see how you can take up the higher rankings in Google.

If you don't send me a PM and I will lol.

This is something you shouldn't really have to ask for advice on, it is a no brainer. Doesn't matter what extension it is, get it.

If the domain name is something that you can build on, then yes I would register it, even a .biz extention. With that many searches per month, you should do well with it.

In my opinion domain names are cheap enough that with that many matches it should be worth it regardless. Whats the worth that could happen?

I recommend this order of precedence:

    www[dot]specifickeyword[dot]com
    www[dot]specifickeyword[dot]net
    www[dot]specifickeyword[dot]org
    www[dot]specific-keyword[dot]com
    www[dot]specific-keyword[dot]com
    www[dot]specific-keyword[dot]com

And if none of those are available, then switch the keyword order:

    www[dot]keywordspecific[dot]com

Believe it or not, I've had really good success by switching the keyword order in this manner. I can still get #1 on Google for "specific keyword" even if the domain is www[dot]keywordspecific[dot]com.

I don't know if switching the keyword order is better than a .biz, or not. But I do know it works.

Honestly, given the data you provided, I think you could probably make either one work pretty easily.
