I just figured out that some accounts on ping.fm wouldn't work or link together...

Anyway, thanks!

Happy Weekend!

Love it when people respond without knowing what they're responding to. PixelPipes is closed for now last time I checked, although I think you can still sign up through Twitter. I'd recommend hellotxt...Heard really good things about that service. I'm probably just going to keep using Ping.fm.

You also might take a look at Posterous...It's a little different but a good service all around. It syndicates to a surprising number of different social sites.

      Anyways, hope that's helpful.

I was looking too because ping.fm has gone to seesmic with fewer options etc.

Hellotxt -- Organize your life online... looks great (& simple like ping.fm) plus others have also suggested Social Media Management Dashboard - HootSuite

Might try hellotxt first & see how I like it. Great for those times I don't want to drop into social sites manually & quickly share something.

Just noticed this is a 2008 question. ) lol However, it's relevant at the moment with what's happening to ping.fm in June.

I was thinking the same thing regarding relevancy....

In fact, the news this month about ping.fm demise was what drove me to WF in search of recommended alternatives.

Hello.txt does indeed appear comparable, although I personally find its user interface less appealing than ping. I'm also considering Squareberry for use in managing clients' social media syndication.

      Kind regards,

      David Best

I would go for hellotxt.com but recently I found out about this service here SocialBacklinker Pro that solved many of my problems... recommended!

(I am not affiliated or connected somehow to this service, just a customer)

There are some good pinging tools in the Internet like

    - pingomatic
    - pingoat
    - pingdevice

--- I hope these tools will work as good as ping.fm

I'm looking for an alternative to ping.fm.

The problem with hellotxt is that it doesn't support feed rss integration like ping.fm, right?

Just today I've discovered linksalpha. It has a free account with only a few services and a subscription with several services for 5$/month. I'm taking a look..

Yeah has anybody figured this out... i have been banging my head against the wall. Ping.fm is closing and now it's Seesmic (or will be next month). So far there is no post by RSS feature.

I checked out hellotxt but that place is a ghost town. I stumbled my way through installing a wordpress plugin in order to push posts to hellotxt, but the url shortener that is used is bunk...

It gave me this url... htxt.it and that is not even a site anymore... There is also a app that seems like it would work here... Hellotxt -- Organize your life online... but if you click on the link to the page... it's totally gone.

So weird... seems like there was several ways to do this a few months ago... but right now nothing is working.

Anyway i am still trying to rig something. If anyone has a way to do this... let me know please. I'll use pixelpipe or hootsuite or whatever... But I need them to push updates to, at the very least, twitter and Facebook when a post is published.

      People please!!

The question was NOT about pinging services!

It was about how to manage multiple social networking accounts / content distribution services through one interface.

Ping.fm rocked by the new owners have completed screwed-up the service. Hence why people are looking for alternatives.

      * hellotxt.com is good and has a large number of sites but several are broken, e.g. identi.ca, posterous, multiply. I think it's only microstatus updates though.

      * hootsuite - the free version is very limited. I use it to pass an RSS feed to ping.fm (which didn't handle rss too well) and that's about it

      * pixelpipe - is dead or dying and hopefully will be resurrected.

      * atomkeep is very flaky

      * Social Backlinker Pro is a wordpress plugin

Here's my simple content distribution method: grab as many RSS feeds from my content as possible, add them to a Yahoo pipe, mix in some other RSS feeds to randomize the feed a bit, and distribute that feed. I then use xmind to plot everything so that I don't forget what goes where, and to avoid double posting (e.g. splatting Twitter with the same feed from different sites ... it can easily happen).

Simple, but it works for me.
